The Naram Sin Foundation for Dialogue and Community Development held a dialogue seminar on Thursday, September 10, 2024, entitled “Challenges to Iraqi National Security in Light of Regional Developments.”

Al-Araji said during a dialogue seminar held at the institution about the presence of the international coalition forces in Iraq, “Iraq has made the decision and the process of withdrawing the international coalition forces from Baghdad and the rest of the other sites in Ain al-Asad base began on 9/30/2024 and the forces will head to Ariel, and from there until the end of 2025 there will be a complete withdrawal of the coalition forces.”

He added: “The nature of the relationship between Iraq and the international coalition then shifts to bilateral relations on an individual basis.”

Al-Araji indicated that “the withdrawal operations will not be affected by the repercussions of the escalation taking place in the region.”

On the other hand, the National Security Advisor confirmed during a seminar to discuss the challenges of Iraqi national security in light of the challenges of the region that “all Iraqi diplomatic efforts are aimed at sparing Iraqi airspace from any expected operations targeting neighboring Iran by the Israeli entity, while emphasizing the rejection of turning Iraq into a battleground or a launching pad for directing strikes against neighboring countries.”

He stressed that “the Iraqi government’s position seeks to create balances that will spare Iraq the repercussions of this war, while adhering to the principles of the necessity of achieving Arab interests, calming the situation, and stopping the aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.”
